Tournament by groups and Tournament by categories
Each category of your league should count as a different tournament because each category must have its own statistics and it can cause a conflict when awarding awards.
Example:
José from the team "Squirrels cat2010" scored 12 goals in the season
Enrique from the "Camarones cat2011" team scored 14 goals
Although they are not of the same category, Enrique would take the scoring title of the tournament.
You can make the mistake of registering a team in a group that it is not and that group is another category.
Example:
The "Fantasmas cat2013" team is registered in group C of the tournament but that group corresponds to cat2012 teams
If your category has many teams and you want to divide it into groups, this is correct and you will only have to change the group to the corresponding teams.
Example: The groups that are created at the time of a world cup
